Owners Representative Broaddus with Chris Hopkins as Project Manager

GAMMA KNIFE NEUROPHYSIOLOGY

MEMORIAL HERMANN - TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER

Houston, Texas  |  21,500 square feet |   Completion 2016

"Early on in the project, Chris was able to avoid a delay in schedule by realizing there was a performance issue with the previously hired move coordinators. Chris communicated this issue to me and immediately took action, planning the move himself down to the last office chair. The move was completed on time and construction began as scheduled. His attention to detail and ability to work under pressure, Chris has been a pleasure to work with. He is a true team player and always manages to foster positive relationships with those around him"

—MELISSA KAM, MHA MEMORIAL HERMANN, DIRECTOR OF OPERATION

This small project brought together 3 departments including Occupational Health, Neurophysiology, and the Gamma Knife department. The project consisted of 4 phases that gradually consolidated 3 departments and upgraded one of the most sophisticated pieces of medical equipment in the world. The Gamma Knife contains nuclear grade materials that must be escorted by homeland security so the coordination had to be tight. Additionally the space had to be completely ready with full security measures for homeland security to allow the delivery. If our schedule window was missed it would cause between a 6 month to 1 year delay in the project causing multiple departments to have no spaces ready. Finally the gamma rays associated with the treatment required the walls of the room that housed the Gamma Knife to have between 1/4 to 1/2 inch lead lining. The project was completed on time and on budget with no compliance rework required.
