SPARKS ATHLETIC AND WELLNESS COMPLEX

Sparks, NV |  108,000 square feet |   Est. Completion 2024

The business case for the new Sparks Athletic and Wellness Center is about creating an economic engine to fill a void in the Northern Nevada while at the same time providing an amenity that will serve the needs of every age and demographic from birth to retirement and create a community with a live-work-play culture.

The success of facilities like Golden Eagle and Reno Ice can help propel Sparks into a epicenter of economic development. While Sparks has become a destination for Softball sports tourism because of it’s attractive prices and quality facilities the proper facilities don’t exist to draw travel soccer, lacrosse, field hockey or aquatic sports such as swimming, water polo, diving, and synchronized swimming. These sports are some of the most up and coming travel sports in the nation and require existing residents to travel to Washington, California or across the country to compete at a national level.  When combined with the tourism and hospitality amenities a facility that could meet those needs would create an economic engine drawing not only tourists but also corporations used to athletic amenities to the Sparks area.

While high level competition sports tourism events are crucial to our facilities goals they will make up a relatively small amount of the facilities schedule.  The athletics facilities and offerings will be impressive, including a state of the medical aquatic therapy program, a 5000 square foot gym, an Olympic size competition pool, a recreation pool and a 10 meter diving platform, aquatic free-climbing wall, 10 artificial turf flat fields, a co-working space, swimming lessons, classrooms for hosting athletic camps and we hope to develop interest as a regional hub that can support first-responders “swift water rescue” certification training.
